So, between traveling far more than usual and being pregnant (and all the fun pregnancy symptoms–fatigue, nausea, etc), and probably partially just from not being diligent when I can, I have fallen off of the cleaning bandwagon and my house is a big mess. Truly. I believe there is a mess in every single room. The kitchen, the bedroom, the living room, the bathroom…all need thorough cleanings. Ahh!
Today, I feel a tad bit queezy, but far better than I did yesterday (when I spent the entire day laying down, feeling nauseous), so I want to try to tackle some of the mess. Not to mention, the family who owns the house we live in is coming back for a few weeks starting next Friday (not this coming, but the one after), and I want to have it spotless for their return.
So, I’m going to jump in this week for Tackle-It Tuesday and try and get as much done as I can, without overdoing it. Here is my to-do list, room by room. It may take a few days to complete. I think I’ll work in increments of half an hour to an hour at a time, and then take a break.
Kitchen
- Wash & dry all dirty dishes & put them away
- Get rid of clutter (mail, etc) from the counter tops
- Move the kitchen items I don’t use daily to the downstairs to make the transition into the basement apartment easier next week
- Thoroughly clean the counters with All-Purpose Cleaner
- Clean the floor with Swiffer
Living Room
- Clear off table
- Take our stuff downstairs & put away
- Dust
- Vacuum
Basement (our room & personal living area)
- Make the bed
- Put away clean clothes
- Put dirty clothes in hamper
- Clear off table & desk
- Straighten up our closet & get rid of my excess clothes–if I don’t wear it (unless it’s something Ben loves–then I should incorporate it into my everyday wardrobe), get rid of it
- Get rid of other clutter
- Dust
- Vacuum
Bathrooms
- Clean toilets thoroughly
- Clean counters
- Clean sinks
- Put toiletry items away in an organized fashion
I think that’s it for now…I’m hoping to get it done in as little time as possible & still have it look spick-n-span. Then the goal would be to keep it that way. I’ll try to post before & after pictures as I go along. But…no laughing at my before pictures. They are indeed quite pitiful.

Wow! I couldn’t get that much done in one day. Well, I could if all of my kids chipped in and helped me. Have fun! I know it feels great to declutter.
wow! big list! hope you get it all done!
What a list! Good luck tackling!
Woah, that’s quite a list! You’re very ambitious. I hope you make good headway! :)
